While our dependence on energy is increasing in modern life, at the same time, the need to realize the damage we give to the environment and turn to cleaner and more compatible energy sources is increasing day by day.
At least as important is another aspect that is formed could be savings made can be expressed in billions of dollars each year with the measures and the efficient use of energy will be taken in various areas and primary energy resources with a large external dependence in terms of unknown could provide an important contribution to security of supply in Turkey.
It is known that energy is an important component of economic and social development and plays a vital role in raising living standards. It is also well known that a sustainable development is possible with a continuous and quality energy supply.
It is aimed to carry out training and project studies and to carry out studies for the training of qualified personnel in renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and geothermal energy which are still limited in use.
The Program of Renewable Energy Technician of the Vocational School at Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) aims to educate qualified technicians who can meet the needs of the energy sector. Within the scope of the program, it is aimed to provide students with the necessary theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and the software and hardware infrastructure required by the sector in the field of renewable energy technologies.
In the program, the Workplace-Based Vocational Education (3+1) model is implemented in order to enable students to develop their professional competencies in real working environments. Within the scope of this model, after completing their theoretical and practical courses during the first three semesters, students spend their final semester receiving full-time vocational training in industry organizations. Thus, students gain the opportunity to acquire work experience before graduation, reinforce the knowledge and skills they have gained in a practical environment, and establish direct interaction with the sector.
Program graduates may continue their undergraduate education through the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) if they wish and may transfer to the following departments:
- Electrical Engineering
- Electrical and Electronics Engineering
- Energy Systems Engineering
- Energy Management
- Physics
- Physics Engineering
- Nuclear Energy Engineering
In this respect, the Program of Renewable Energy Technician offers a holistic education model that supports the academic and professional development of its students by providing both sector-oriented practical education and the opportunity to transfer to undergraduate education.

Energy has been the most important element of economic and social development from past to present. Sustainable development depends on uninterrupted and high-quality energy. Today, the increasing need for energy raises interest in alternative energy sources day by day.
In this direction, our Program of Renewable Energy Technology aims to train qualified technical staff in cooperation with sector representatives. In our program, electronics, control-automation, data analysis, and energy-specific measurement and monitoring technologies are included, with the goal of training well-equipped alumni needed by the sector. Our alumni can find job opportunities in energy production and distribution companies, enterprises producing materials based on energy technology, maintenance and service companies, and organizations operating in the field of environmental technology. In addition, successful students can continue their education in engineering faculties through vertical transfer.
