Air conditioning and cooling is not only necessary for ensuring environments that enable individuals to work comfortably in malls, plazas, business centers, land vehicles, aircrafts, vessels and houses, but it is a versatile field including applications such as cold storage, storage at very low temperatures, and rapid cooling after various chemical treatments in various levels of the industry. The need for qualified human resources in this field is increasing by the day.
The aim of our program is to provide the strategic labor force that is capable of meeting the expert personnel need of the rapidly developing air conditioning market in Turkey, which targets USD 65 billion for the year 2023, including USD 25 billion in exports, through on-site application in the market.
In accordance with the protocol signed with the ISKAV Heating, Cooling, Air Conditioning Research and Education Foundation in 2016, our students will complete their internships in firms that will be led by this foundation. Organizations such as conferences and seminars will be held with the managers of these companies, and technical visits will be organized to these firms which are the locomotives of the sector. These companies will provide employment opportunities for our successful students following graduation. In addition, students will be given the opportunity to take applied classes in the foundation's laboratories during their training.
Through this cooperation protocol, our students will be trained to become qualified technicians in the sector and they will not have to worry about finding a job following graduation.
Education Process
The Air Conditioning and Cooling Technology Program introduced a new curriculum in the Fall Semester of the 2016-2017 Academic Year.
According to this,
Students will receive academic in-school training for at least 4 days a week.
Courses reorganized in 2016 in line with the protocols signed with the ISKAV training and research foundation have been rearranged and credited according to market norms in line with the recommendations of experts working in the sector. The schedule covers core courses such as Mathematics, Air Conditioning, and Cooling Principles to improve the theoretical infrastructure of air conditioning and cooling alongside courses such as Cooling and Heating Systems, Ventilation Systems, Centralized Air Conditioning Systems, Computer Aided Design, Cooling System Design, Air Conditioning and Cooling Electrics, Protective Maintenance and Trouble Shooting, Commercial Cooling Systems, Industrial Cooling Systems, and Climate Cooling Systems.Air conditioning and cooling is not only necessary for ensuring environments that enable individuals to work comfortably in malls, plazas, business centers, land vehicles, aircrafts, vessels and houses, but it is a versatile field which includes applications such a cold storage, storage at very low temperatures and rapid cooling after various chemical treatments in various levels of the industry. Established in 1997 with the law numbered 4281, Istanbul Kültür University established the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technologies Program in 2008 and took its first students in the 2008-2009 academic year. The program, which started its activities in Şirinevler Campus in 2008, continues its education life in Bakırköy Campus İncirli Building since 2009.
With the agreement made in the 2011-2012 academic year, the Program has trained experts in the air conditioning and cooling market in cooperation with ISEDA (air conditioning cooling Training Advisory and Research Association), refrigerator, cooling and air conditioning technicians chamber, and leading companies such as ALARKO, ISISAN-BUDERUS.
As of the 2016-2017 academic year, internship place support is provided to our students from Alarko, Arçelik, Friterm, Daikin and Systemair HSK etc. companies that are members of this foundation as per the protocol made with ISKAV (heating and cooling Air Conditioning Research and Education Foundation). In addition, Education Support is provided to our students in the laboratories organized with the latest technology of the foundation. Students; members of the foundation are informed about technological developments through technical trips to the companies and also benefit from the knowledge skills and experience of ISKAV member company managers through conferences and seminars held in our school.
Upon graduation, our graduates start life one step ahead with their self-confidence, knowledge and experience.
Our graduates can go to Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering and Industrial Engineering and 4-year Energy Management departments with Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS).
A protocol was signed between the Istanbul Kültür University Air Conditioning and Cooling Technology Program, the companies FRİTERM and ALARKO, and İSKAV (Foundation for Heating, Cooling and Air-Conditioning Research and Education). Within the scope of the protocol, the program receives support from these institutions in finding internships, course updates and lab support if necessary, as well as seminars, conferences and technical trips in accordance with sectoral developments. Thus, our students graduate as sought-after personnel in the sector.
Our students do not have difficulty finding a job. Due to the developing construction sector in the country, the need for technicians in the air conditioning and cooling sector is very high. Our students receive job offers while they are still studying, and they find jobs better than those in many other industries as soon as they graduate.
Graduates of Istanbul Kültür University’s Air Conditioning and Cooling Technology Program under the Vocational School of Technical Sciences can carry out the planned activities for the projecting, installation and operation of heating, cooling and ventilation systems of buildings, vehicles, and cold storages. In addition, they can use their technical knowledge in the factories of public and private institutions, cold storages, shopping malls, nuclear facilities, big supermarkets and can open their own work places.
