Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Vocational School Banking and Insurance Program organized an e-seminar titled “Eurobond Market and the Performance of Banks” on Friday, January 22, 2021. Specialist Eren Kuru, from Vakıf Yatırım Securities, attended the event moderated by Lecturer Ayşegül Berrak Köten, Head of the Evening Education Program of Banking and Insurance. Eren Kuru, who is an expert in investment consultancy and individual portfolio management, gave detailed information about investment instruments known as Eurobonds in the e-seminar. Kuru explained the advantages and risks of Eurobonds, the performance of Eurobond issuing banks with examples, told our students how Eurobond pricing occurs, how the theoretical expected return and spreads are calculated. Turkey's 2041 Euro Bond futures and coupon payments, Turkey's 5-Year CDS with the current pricing of Eurobonds were shown on the Bloomberg quote screen with the latest examples. Eren Kuru drew attention to mutual funds investing in Eurobonds on the Turkey Electronic Fund Distribution Platform (TEFAS) and shared the processes of Eurobond trading with participants who showed interest in the e-seminar. Eren Kuru also answered all the questions from our students after his presentation.
