“From Past to Present, Doyen of Fashion Vural Gökçaylı”

An e-seminar titled “From Past to Present, Doyen of Fashion Vural Gökçaylı” was held by Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School on Friday, January 08, 2021. With the comprehensive presentation of doyen fashion designer Vural Gökçaylı who is entering the fashion life with an internship at Givenchy in 1963 and begin to make his own designs in Amsterdam in 1967, assisting Michel Goma in Jean Patou and returned to Turkey in 1968 with designs combining Ottoman motifs with geometric patterns, The world of fashion from past to present was conveyed to our students. Fashion designer Vural Gökçaylı, who designs collections inspired by Anatolian cultures such as Hittite, Seljuk and Ottoman, organizing fashion shows abroad and at important nights in the country, took part in many social responsibility projects throughout his career, conveyed the history of fashion he has lived with precious anecdotes from fashion and clothing history to contemporary fashion to our students. Gökçaylı, who shared his designs that made his mark on the history of fashion and his designs with the drape technique with our students, drew attention to the key points of the fashion industry. Gökçaylı also answered the questions that our participants were curious about.
