Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School Program of Banking and Insurance organized an e-seminar on May 28th 2021, Friday titled “The Insurance Sector in Turkey and Around the World.” In the seminar, which is moderated by Lecturer Ayşegül Berrak Köten, Head of the Evening Program of Banking and Insurance, General Director of Unico Sigorta A.Ş. Ahmet Sertem Demir was the guest. 

Demir, who served as the General Manager, Member of the Executive Committee and Member of the Board of Directors at Unico Sigorta A. Ş. as of January 2020, shared his assessments and experiences about the insurance industry in the world and in Turkey. Explaining Unico Sigorta's individual and corporate products, business lines, customer approach, reinsurance structure and premium sizes, Demir analyzed the insurance industry in Turkey. Demir said that the premium production in the insurance sector increased by 19.3 percent in 2020 compared to the previous year and reached 82.6 billion TL in total.

 Noting that there are a total of 60 companies in the insurance sector in life and non-life branches, our guest stated that 39 companies provide service only in non-life sectors and 21 companies in both life and non-life sectors. Evaluating the sector's premium production on the basis of branches and sales channels over the years, Demir drew a roadmap and gave advice to our students who want to pursue a career in the insurance industry.
