The logistics sector in our country is a young and dynamic sector that has developed rapidly in recent years. Turkey is defined as a "logistics base” by many authorities thanks to its location, which serves as a hub between the Middle East, Turkic Republics and Europe and its advantageous position on the Silk Road which is trying to be revived today.
The "Logistics" program started training within the İstanbul Kültür University "Vocational School of Business Administration" in the 2008-2009 academic year in order to meet the increasing need of a qualified labor force in the sector.
It is among our priorities to educate qualified managerial candidates who specialize in logistics, foreign trade, customs, transportation and similar areas. In addition to providing information on business disciplines, it will also provide sector specific background information required by service contractors in the logistics sector.
Study Process:
The period of study in the İstanbul Kültür University Logistics Program is 2 years, consisting of theoretical and applied courses. Courses in the first and second semesters consist of Introduction to Economics, Introduction to Business Science, Introduction to Law, Introduction to Logistics, Combined Transportation, Business Mathematics, International Trade, Transportation Systems, Logistics and Marketing Management.
In the third and fourth semesters, Global Logistics, International Transport and Insurance, Free Zones and Customs, International Trade Law, Warehousing and Inventory Management, Supply Chain Management, Total Quality Management, Logistics and Shipping Legislation, Logistics and Human Resources, Distribution Channels and Planning, Customer Relations Management, Transportation Documentation, Transportation Economics, and Transportation Law courses are given for professional specialization. Relations with the sector are aimed to be strengthened through workplace practice courses.
Within the scope of the İKÜ Logistics Program, specific major area courses are given by expert faculty members and students can see all the processes closely via technical visits to companies that specialize in the field and have the opportunity to prepare for work life during the workplace practice periods covering 40 workdays.
Furthermore, the İKÜ Logistics Program students have the opportunity to enter the Vertical Transfer Examination and continue their education at the undergraduate level after completing their associate degree education. Graduates who want to continue their education abroad can participate in undergraduate completion programs by studying the junior and senior courses abroad, in accordance with the protocols of İstanbul Kültür University with universities abroad.
The İstanbul Kültür University Logistics Program is a four-semester higher education program that raises up highly qualified managers who master the logistics, foreign trade, customs, transportation and similar subjects so that they can plan and carry out works related to operational necessity. The medium of instruction in the program is Turkish.
The İKÜ Logistics Program was established within the Vocational School of Business Administration in the 2008-2009 academic year to meet the increasing need for qualified labor force in the industry.
Students will graduate as self-confident, empathic, responsible individuals who have knowledge in occupational safety and ethics, thanks to the modern and intensive applied training they get through applied training systems, sector trips, seminars, conferences and interviews with experts in the field, career days and young and dynamic expert academic staff, in addition to theoretical sufficiency.
The İKÜ Logistics Program students have the opportunity to combine theoretical knowledge and practice with the support of the executive academicians from the sector.
In the İstanbul Kültür University Logistics Program, the internship consists of 40 workdays. Students can prepare for their work life during the internship.
The Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) related to the vertical transfer of successful graduates of İKÜ Vocational Schools Programs to the formal undergraduate education programs are carried out by ÖSYM. If successful on the exam, Logistics students can transfer to programs, such as Logistics Management, Transportation and Logistics, International Logistics, International Logistics and Transport, International Trade, International Trade and Logistics Management, and Aviation Management.
The İKÜ Logistics Program curriculum was prepared based on interviews with sector representatives, taking into consideration the company demands and expectations, and some changes were made in accordance with experiences and demands of the industry over the years. Thus, our curriculum has taken its current shape.
The İKÜ Logistics Program greatly values cooperation with the leading companies of the industry in terms of education, internship and business and also organizes company, storage, warehouse, port visits, technical trips and conferences on a regular basis in order to support students in terms of practice.
As in all programs of İKÜ Vocational School of Business Administration, the İKÜ Logistics Program provides students with the opportunity for internships in European countries within the scope of Erasmus and students can also complete their undergraduate education in universities which have contracts with İKÜ in the USA and Canada.
